Bio

Victoria Stusiak (b.1977, CA) is a painter, printmaker and photographer who received her BFA from Concordia University, Montréal, Québec in 2005 and her MFA from the University of the Arts London, UK in 2011. She was awarded The Stevenson Scholarship in 2004 and the Elizabeth Greenshields Scholarship in 2004 and 2009. While living in Montréal, Stusiak worked as a studio assistant and printer for artists John Richard Fox (1927 - 2008) and Tom Hopkins (1944 - 2011). Presently, she works as an art teacher in Edmonton, Alberta. Her artwork has been featured in exhibitions across Canada, including in Québec, Ottawa, Toronto, Montréal, Edmonton, and Halifax, as well as internationally in London and Portugal.

In her recent oil paintings, Stusiak explores the dynamic interplay between figuration and fiction. Through expressive compositions and implied motion, her fictional characters evoke a sense of immediacy. Drawing inspiration from the history of figurative painting, she synthesizes personal experiences and observations, translating them into a visual language through a process of discovery. Her work invites viewers to contemplate the reordering of the world into a visual image of discovery.
